Girl Scout Week is the week-long celebration of the founding of Girl Scouts on March 12, 1912. This year, Girl Scouts is turning 111!
This week, we ask Girl Scouts everywhere to commit to seven goals and accompanying activities. Girls can do them during Girl Scout Week, or take them on in the months to come. After all, being a Girl Scout isn’t just for special occasions!
Whether you’re a Girl Scout alum, current member, dedicated volunteer, or you have an extraordinary Girl Scout in your life, you’re an important part of the Girl Scout family. And you know what families do together? Celebrate!
And Girl Scout Week is definitely something to celebrate. Here are the ways you can celebrate each day:
March 12 – Girl Scout Sunday & Girl Scouts’ Birthday
Girl Scout Week starts with Girl Scout Sunday. Take time today to connect with your beliefs and values and learn about someone else’s.
March 13 – Make New Friends Monday
What is more fun than sharing your love of Girl Scouts with someone close to you? On Make New Friends Monday, share your favorite part of being a Girl Scout with a friend who isn't a Girl Scout
March 14 – Take Action Tuesday
Girl Scouts know how to give back to their communities and make the world a better place by taking action! Celebrate Girl Scouts by participating in a service, Take Action, or High Award project or by advocating for a cause you’re passionate about.
March 15 – Women in STEM Wednesday
Women make up only 28% of the workforce in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM), and men vastly outnumber women majoring in most STEM fields in college. Learn more about women in STEM, then post a picture of you as your favorite STEM woman.
March 16 – Thankful Thursday
At Girl Scouts of Gateway Council, we value our volunteers and partners, and recognize the contributions they make in developing girl leaders. Express gratitude to your favorite Girl Scout volunteers and partners to let them know they're appreciated this and every day!
March 17 – The Future is Female Friday
The future is yours, Girl Scouts! How do you plan to conquer it? On this day we encourage girls to imagine their future selves and share their vision with others.
March 18 – Girl Scout Birthday Party
Engage in our Council-wide service project by creating a birthday box and donating it to other kids celebrating their birthday in foster care, at homeless shelters or domestic violence shelters in your area.
