This past Easter, Girl Scout Troop 362 came together with a mission to give back to their community. Their efforts raised $600 for Wolfson Children’s Hospital, demonstrating how young leaders can make a meaningful difference. A special shoutout goes to Jasoda Miles, a Cadette who led the fundraiser called "Egg My Yard."
Jasoda chose to support Wolfson Children’s Hospital because of her passion for working with young children, something she regularly does at her church on Sundays. The original goal for the fundraiser was $500, and the troop was thrilled to exceed that amount.
The "Egg My Yard" fundraiser involved members of the community paying to have Easter eggs hidden in their backyards. Jasoda and her sister, also a Girl Scout, prepared the special Golden eggs, filling them with goodies and personalizing each with a child's name and a bunny. Jasoda also wrote personalized letters from the Easter Bunny for each family.
To prepare, the troop gathered at a local park and filled more than 850 eggs with toys and candies for 15 families. They also decorated envelopes for the Easter Bunny letters. The night before Easter, the troop members distributed the eggs to the participating families’ yards, creating a surprise Easter morning experience.
Reflecting on the success of the project, Jasoda expressed her gratitude, saying, “I am so happy that all the girls and parents in our troop helped me with this fundraiser! They. Are. Awesome!!! I want to thank my troop for making these kids’ Easter extra fun.”
Troop 362’s creativity and dedication made this Easter a special one for many families while also supporting a vital cause. Their commitment to helping others shows the impact that Girl Scouts can make in their communities.
