Girl Scouts of Gateway Council celebrated their Gold Award Girl Scouts April 6th at the FSU Alumni Center Ballroom in Tallahassee, Fl. This event recognized the remarkable achievements of these Girl Scouts and the impact they have made through their unique and inspiring projects.
This year’s Gold Award projects address a diverse range of community needs, from encouraging kids to reconnect with nature to bridging the gap in STEM education to inspiring youth to bring music to the elderly and advocating for estuary conservation. Each project reflects a Girl Scout’s passion for making the world a better place while demonstrating leadership, problem-solving, and perseverance.
“The Gold Award represents the highest level of achievement in Girl Scouts, and we are incredibly proud of these young women for their dedication to creating meaningful change,” said Wendy Dordel, CEO of Girl Scouts of Gateway Council. “Each project is a testament to the leadership, resilience, and commitment of our Girl Scouts, and we are so honored to celebrate their accomplishments.”
Alana Ange, Tara Bailey, Samantha Baxter, Shanaya Brown, Leighlin Chandler, Sydney Foggo, Emma Fulford, Riley Harris, Whitney Howard, Emma Huntsman, Carly Hyers, Kaitlyn Izworski, Kylie Keen, Samantha Key-Crowley, Kathryn McNeill, Elizabeth Minchin, Gabrielle Ontiveros, Piper Saidak, Emma Schlotthauer, and Kamryn Thompson were all in attendance and received their Gold Award at the ceremony. Hailey Fezza, Ava Marks, and Sydney Sherman also received their Gold Award however were not present at the ceremony.
“These Gold Award Girl Scouts have truly become role models, demonstrating that with determination and creativity, they can address real-world challenges. We are thrilled to witness their growth as leaders and to celebrate the powerful impact they have made,” Gaby Fraxedas, Girl Experience Manager.
The Gold Award is earned by fewer than 6% of Girl Scouts nationwide, requiring at least 80 hours of project work that creates a sustainable and measurable impact. Gold Award Girl Scouts gain valuable leadership experience, scholarship opportunities, and a competitive edge in college admissions and careers.
