North Florida Girl Scout council encourages public to Invest in Girls today Jacksonville, Fla. – December 8, 2022 –– The Girl Scouts of Gateway Council (GSGC) today announced the launch of its Invest in Girls campaign, an end-of-year appeal for individuals and businesses alike to make an investment in local girls and their futures.
GSGC, the local council of Girl Scouts of the U.S.A. (known simply as the Girl Scouts), serves more than 10,000 members across 35 counties in North Florida. More than 6,000 girls ages 5-18, and more than 4,000 adults currently participate in GSGC as Girl Scouts, troop leaders and volunteers.
Through the organization's programs, Girl Scouts of all backgrounds and abilities can be unapologetically themselves, empowering them through the organization's four pillars: STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics), life skills, outdoors and entrepreneurship. Girls discover their strengths, meet new challenges and build friendships that can last a lifetime. Through December 31st, GSGC will accept donations to its annual end-of-year giving campaign to raise necessary funds for the girl-focused organization. The Invest in Girls campaign aims to raise $25,000 for programming in key areas such as STEM, entrepreneurship, and the outdoors. This campaign follows the organization’s participation in Giving Tuesday, a global generosity movement that encourages people to do good.
“We believe in the power of being a girl, and as an organization, we work to make sure that each girl knows her worth,” said Mary Charles, Interim CEO of GSGC. “It takes the entire community’s support to inspire tomorrow’s leaders. As the local council of the largest girl-focused organization in the world, we know we’re shaping the future. We are so thankful for everyone who chooses to join us and make a difference –– during the holiday season and year-round.”
GSGC invites individuals and companies to make a donation this holiday season. A $25 donation provides a girl with a Girl Scout membership; a gift of $50 sends a girl to a day of summer camp; a $100 gift provides STEM badge materials for a troop in an underserved community to explore something new, and a $250 donation provides a life-changing leadership experience for a troop to become the changemakers of tomorrow. The organization believes that every girl matters, and every gift matters.
Donations can be made toward the campaign by visiting girlscouts-gateway.org/donate or by texting GIRL22 to 50155 through the month of December.
Girl Scouts of Gateway Council is a 501(c)(3) organization. Every dollar donated is tax-deductible and stays right here in our communities to help girls dream big and do bigger.
Because she can move mountains. Spark change. Inspire others. The future is hers to take.
